Safety

P.T. Cerna is committed to excellence in all aspects of environment, safety, health, quality, and operations. This agenda defines our balanced management approach called “Simultaneous Excellence”, which is:

  • excellence in innovative solutions to complex problems;
  • excellence as a leader in efficient operation and protection of workers, the public, and the environment;
  • excellence through the integration of internal and external affairs.

PTCC is committed to systematically carrying out its mission in a manner that achieves excellence, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness in integration, while simultaneously protecting its workers, the public, and the environment. It is a systematic approach to fully integrate safety into management and work practices at all levels. Operations are conducted in compliance with regulations and in a manner consistent with the hazards associated with the work.

It is accomplished through effective interaction between the PTCC staff, with employee involvement at all levels. Line management is responsible for fully implementing requirements within its organizations by (1) developing systems and approaches that result in the effective management of risks and (2) creating a culture that effectively integrates work planning, execution of work activities, and performance assessment of its staff. Providing a program oversight necessary to assure effective integration management systems into all research and operations activities.

Health and Safety

Health and safety of employees is of utmost concern to the PTCC Management. Its concerns should be anticipated and identified prior to the initiation of inspection and collection of field data for possible activities. Staff must be familiar with the use of health and safety gear. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available at all times and is required to be of use at any time and at fully implemented times.

Although general health and safety concerns can be anticipated before the data-gathering/ inspection activities begin, some unanticipated concerns might occur during the activities themselves. The Project Leader and field personnel must determine whether situations are too hazardous to have site inspection or to collect samples from a given location at a particular time. Because of the continual prospect of unforeseen problems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are implemented. Such are the following:

  • Notify the Plant Engineer / Officer-in-Charge
  • Notify the PTCC Project/ Engineering Manager
  • Discuss the occurrence and cause of the problem with specific personnel of PTCC staff and Plant personnel
  • Assess the possible solution
  • Implement the approved solutions

Field Personnel should not take unnecessary chances.

Quality Assurance

PTCC’s management is committed to providing quality services that meet the requirements of its clients and to satisfy applicable regulatory standards and practices. Management is dedicated to providing an environment that encourages the achievement of excellence, demands integrity in all aspects of its operations, and requires an active participation in environmental control. Quality management systems have been formulated for the intention of PTCC clients to have the best possible and safest solutions to their client’s process. They are intended to meet the client’s purpose in a most cost-effective manner. This applies to all technical, sales and administration staff

The achievement of quality in all activities that pertain to their organizational/technical function is the responsibility of each PTCC staff. PTCC provides the structure of its staff to achieve the total quality management goals necessary for the client’s needs.

Continued technical and management training for PTCC staff is implemented. PTCC’s investments on schooling are believed to be an addition to the quality and maximum performance to clients. New technologies for solutions are being practiced and performed for higher effectiveness and efficiency.

There are tools for testing in accordance to the coding standards. The instruments which PTCC uses are up-to-date and are traceable to international standards.

The quality of work which PTCC uses is of high importance and priority. It is the heart of its operations and the reason for its success.
